About the founders

Built by students who just moved in

DormUniversity started as a weekend project at Gator Hack V in October 2026. It won 2nd place for Best Use of the Twinly API, and we kept building because we see real potential in it.

We know who it’s for because we’ve lived it: guessing a room’s size from a photo, buying things before knowing whether they fit, and finding the housing rules after move-in instead of before. DormUniversity is the tool we wanted then.

  • Real sizes, honestly labelled

Every room says whether its size is Official, Measured or Estimated, and where it came from.

  • Rules decide, not AI

AI reads what you photograph or describe. Our rules engine checks it and cites the policy number.

  • Built for every campus

We started with UF’s 24 halls and now cover residence halls across all 16 SEC schools.

  • Lucas Civil Engineering
  • Turner Accounting
  • Jake Computer Science
  • Joseph M.S. Finance
